Twin Falls, Idaho
The website for Elevation 486, this restaurant with a magnificent view of the canyon, reads: “We are blessed to be in this one-in-a-million location, perched on the south rim of The Canyon, in the great state of Idaho, 486 vertical feet above the beautiful Snake River.”
The view is stunning. We enjoyed sitting on the patio overlooking the canyon. It looked like a model train set, green and small in the distance.
Inside the restaurant, windows lined the front wall to give diners access to the view from indoors. The lighting seemed muted compared to the brilliance of the light outside, and at the center of the ample lounge area was a shining, well-stocked bar.
The waiters were smiling and friendly in their black uniforms. (One of those young rascals left his phone number under my daughter’s plate).
The back of the wine menu caught my eye with it’s “Wine Wisdom.” I thought it was cute and kind of clever.
I’m not too sure about the food itself. It was not bad, but not really memorable either. This may be par for the course when you choose a restaurant with a view. The Prime Rib Philly Cheesesteak sandwich looked the best but I didn’t taste it. My other daughter had a tuna-looking fish sandwich and I had a Reuben sandwich. The one at Mac’s Place was better. We were there for lunch, so I can’t offer an opinion about dinner. The sandwiches were all around $13, which is not terrible for a relatively upscale restaurant.
My recommendation would be to visit Elevation 486 for the experience. It might be nice if you’d like to have a romantic evening, a nice scenic view, and perhaps a steak dinner with some drinks in the evening. As for me, now that I’ve been there I wouldn’t go again, at least not for lunch.
Elevation 486 is located at 195 River Vista Place in Twin Falls, Idaho. Phone: 208-737-0486. It’s a good idea to call ahead for a reservation, especially if you want to sit outside.

Oh my gosh, I ate there before and the food is great and that view is to die for! Thank you for sharing Alice.
Sorry your experience with the lunch was not great. Did you guys go kayaking?
It was a pretty great view. 🙂 Did you eat lunch there, or dinner? Sometimes when you go to a restaurant with a specialty, you should order accordingly. Elevation 486 seemed like a steak and seafood place so perhaps we just didn’t order the right type of food.
