Taqueria in Eugene, Oregon
I wasn’t sure what to expect when my nephew suggested we eat at Pandita. Each time we visited him, I ended up nonplussed by my entre.
We parked on the street and walked around the corner to the entrance.
We ordered at the window outside. They didn’t have a huge selection. Pandita is known for the tacos, so we ordered three: two carnitas and one chicken adobo, and an order of Pandito Fries.
Seating at Pandita
You can choose to sit either indoors or outdoors at Pandita. Inside the small restaurant, you will find an art deco style and outside picnic tables sit under a canopy and heaters create a toasty atmosphere.
Pandito Fries
Pandito fries are not cheap ($14), but they are loaded. Melted cheddar cheese, pickled onions, and tender carnitas smother a large platter of crispy waffle fries. A drizzle of crema and fresh cilantro top them off with style. Pandita also offers vegetarian and vegan options.
The Tacos
The tacos are three for $11, five for $18, or ten for $35. They are hardy and delicious. The tortillas are fresh and soft. Although one is called a “crispy taco,” it wasn’t crispy like Taco Bell. These are nice, quality tortillas. We ordered carnitas on soft tortillas and chicken adobo on a hard shell. I liked the chicken best.
I spoke to an employee at Pandita and asked him if there was anything he’d like you to know about the restaurant. “All of our ingredients are fresh and locally sourced,” he told me. “We try to buy locally whenever we can.”
